THE BEST DESIGN INSPO IS PROBABLY ALREADY IN YOUR JUNK DRAWER.
This weekend as I was walking my pups and spotted a yellow, half-scratched off, but beautifully lettered “A” on an electrical box by my house, I was reminded of something. Design inspiration isn’t always found on Pinterest, on your competitor’s site, or in last year’s design awards. Sometimes you’ll find it on a random day on a crumpled concert flyer, a cereal box from 1998, or the handwriting on the cover of your grandma’s cookbook.
At PB we live for this kind of everyday inspiration. Because great design doesn’t always come from “industry trends.” It comes from your life. Your tastes. Your weird little obsessions. And honestly? That’s what makes it cool.
Look Around. That’s Design.
You don’t have to scroll Instagram for two hours to find good branding inspo (though we support that journey too). Sometimes it’s:
• The faded poster you saw stapled to a telephone pole last week
• A matchbook from your favorite dive bar
• The funky font on a bag of chips you bought for the vibes
• The color combo on your mom’s vintage Pyrex
• The doodles on a napkin that somehow just work
We’re constantly collecting these little moments. They might be imperfect, weird, nostalgic, or unexpected—but they’re human. And that’s exactly the energy we love bringing into our design work.
Hot Take: Your Moodboard Doesn’t Have to Be Pulled from Good Design to Make for Good Design
When we kick off a project, we always ask clients to share inspiration. And here’s the thing: we don’t just want to see what other brands in your industry are doing. We want to see the stuff that lights you up—even if it makes zero sense on paper.
You’re a coffee brand but obsessed with 80s arcade aesthetics? Love that.
You run a flower shop but keep sending us photos of motel signage? Same.
You’re a wedding photographer but you want your brand to feel like a Wes Anderson film? Incredible.
Your moodboard is a vibe check, not a literal blueprint. We’ll help you connect the dots and pull out the golden threads that make your brand feel true to you—not just like everyone else.
Design Isn’t a Formula. It’s a Feeling.
When something feels right—you just know. That’s what we’re always chasing when we create brand identities. Not just what looks good, but what feels good. What feels like you.
So next time something catches your eye—a funky label, a handwritten note, a weird old magazine cover—save it. Take a photo. Toss it in your inspo folder. You never know what might spark your next big idea. Oh! And add it to our Notion Portal if we’re working together ;).
